About the Consultation Call
What happens on the consultation call?
A 30-minute Zoom call where we discuss what you want to work on, any relevant background, and whether one-to-one sessions are the right fit for you. It gives you the chance to ask questions and get a feel for how I work before committing to a full session. I'll also give you an honest view on how many sessions I'd typically expect something like your situation to take.
Why isn't the consultation call free anymore?
Because my time is finite, and a free consultation model attracts a high volume of enquiries from people who are only casually curious. A small investment, fully deductible from your session cost, ensures that the people I speak with are genuinely ready and serious about making a change. If you go ahead and book a session or package, the £49 is deducted in full. If you decide it's not for you, you've paid £49 for 30 minutes of honest, experienced guidance, which is a reasonable exchange.
Is the £49 really deducted from my session cost?
Yes, in full. If you book any session or package after your consultation call, £49 is deducted from the total.
About the Process
What actually happens in a session?
Every session begins with a comprehensive diagnostic conversation — I want to understand not just the symptom you want to address, but the underlying beliefs, patterns, and emotional responses driving it. From there, the hypnosis is built specifically around you. There's no generic script. The session is recorded in studio quality and sent to you afterwards so you can revisit the hypnosis as many times as you like between sessions.
Do I need to believe in hypnosis for it to work?
No, but you do need to be open to it. Hypnosis works at the level of the subconscious mind, which operates independently of your conscious beliefs about it. Many of my most successful clients were sceptical when they started. What matters is your willingness to engage with the process, not your prior belief in it.
Will I be unconscious or out of control?
Neither. Hypnosis is a state of focused relaxation — you're aware throughout, you can hear everything, and you remain in complete control at all times. You can't be made to do or say anything you don't want to. The experience is closer to a guided daydream than anything you might have seen on stage or in films.
What if I can't be hypnotised?
Everyone who can follow simple instructions and is willing to relax can experience hypnosis. The idea that some people "can't be hypnotised" usually comes from a misunderstanding of what hypnosis actually is. If you've ever been absorbed in a film, lost in a daydream, or driven somewhere on autopilot, you've already experienced a natural hypnotic state.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends entirely on what you're working on. Some people experience a significant shift in a single session. More complex or longstanding issues, chronic anxiety, deep-rooted habits, trauma, typically benefit from multiple sessions. I'll give you an honest assessment during our consultation call or at the start of your first session. That's why I don't sell a fixed number upfront without understanding your situation.
How quickly will I see results?
Some clients notice changes immediately, during or immediately after the first session. Others find the shift happens gradually over the following days as the subconscious mind continues to process the work. I always send you the session recording so you can reinforce the hypnosis between sessions, which accelerates results significantly.
About Logistics
How does a Zoom session work?
You book a time that suits you, and I'll automatically send you a Zoom link. All you need is a quiet space where you won't be disturbed, a comfortable chair or place to sit, and a stable internet connection. Headphones improve the experience but aren't essential. I'll handle everything else.
What do I need to prepare before my session?
Very little. Find a comfortable, private space where you won't be interrupted for the duration of your session. Avoid caffeine in the hour before if possible. Come with a clear sense of what you want to work on, though we'll explore this together at the start of the session.
Will I receive a recording of my session?
Yes. Every hypnotherapy part of a session is recorded in studio-quality and sent to you after the session as an MP3 audio file. The recording contains the hypnosis component of your session, which you can listen to as often as you like. Repeated listening reinforces the changes made during the session and is one of the most effective tools for accelerating results.
Can I choose when my session takes place?
Yes. Once you've booked, you'll receive a scheduling link to choose a date and time that works for you. I work across time zones, so there's flexibility for clients in the UK, US, Australia, and elsewhere.
About Packages
Do sessions in a package expire?
No. Sessions purchased as part of a package never expire. You can use them at whatever pace suits you, weekly, monthly, or spread across a longer period. There's no pressure to rush.
What happens if you raise your prices after I've bought a package?
Your package sessions are locked at the price you paid. Future price increases don't affect sessions you've already purchased. This is one of the key advantages of buying a package — you're protected against any future increases for the duration of your package.
Can I mix 60 and 90-minute sessions in a package?
The 60-minute and 90-minute packages are separate products with different pricing. You'd need to purchase the relevant package for the session length you want. If you're unsure which format suits you, the consultation call is a good opportunity to discuss that.
Can I gift sessions or a package to someone else?
Yes. If you'd like to purchase sessions as a gift, get in touch directly and I'll arrange this for you. Alternatively, if you've bought a package and would like to gift a session to a friend or family member, so long as you have remaining sessions, you can just email me, and they can schedule a session at a time that suits them.
About Adam
What issues do you work with?
The full range of what hypnotherapy addresses effectively: anxiety, confidence, phobias, habits and addictions, sleep, weight management, performance, trauma, pain conditions, and psychosomatic issues, including post-viral fatigue, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain. If you're unsure whether your situation is something I work with, book a consultation call, and I'll give you an honest answer or check out my podcast called The Hypnotist, if there's a theme on there that I've working with then I can do a similar area with you.
Are you a qualified hypnotherapist?
Yes, I have a degree in Psychology and studied with the London College of Clinical Hypnotherapy with a post-graduate certificate and diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, both at Distinction Level. I'm a practising clinical hypnotherapist with over a decade of experience and thousands of client sessions delivered. I'm the host of the World's most popular hypnosis podcast with more than 2,000 episodes of The Hypnotist podcast. I speak at the world's largest hypnosis conferences, and I'm also a regular media commentator on hypnosis and have appeared on national TV, newspapers, and magazines.
Why are your sessions more expensive than those of other hypnotherapists?
Because of what you're getting - experience, reputation and ability. Every session is bespoke, built around your specific situation, not delivered from a script. It's conducted by someone with extensive clinical experience across a wide range of conditions. It's recorded in studio quality and sent to you to reinforce between sessions. And the underlying methodology draws on years of clinical practice, research, and refinement. You're not paying for a standard hypnotherapy session, you're paying for a precision-engineered intervention built specifically for you. The price reflects that.
Why should I choose you over other hypnotherapists? Honestly, you should choose whoever you feel most aligned with and most confident in. What I'd say is this: if you've listened to The Hypnotist podcast and something resonated, that's a meaningful signal. The work I do in sessions is the same work I do on the podcast, the same voice, the same approach, the same methodology. You already have a sense of whether it's right for you.
Secret Circle
What is the Secret Circle, and how does it relate to sessions?
The Hypnotist's Secret Circle is my membership; it gives you access to a growing library of hypnosis content, themed courses, and ongoing material to support your transformation between sessions. From 1st April, all Secret Circle members receive a 15% discount on sessions and packages. If you're planning to work with me regularly, the membership pays for itself quickly. You can find out more and join here: https://courses.adamcox.co.uk/secret-circle
Confidentiality & Privacy
Is everything we discuss in a session confidential?
Completely. Everything discussed in your session is strictly confidential and will never be shared without your explicit consent. This applies to the content of our conversations, your personal circumstances, and your identity as a client.
One question that comes up occasionally: I host The Hypnotist podcast, which features real hypnotherapy sessions. If you're wondering whether your session could appear on the podcast, it can, but if you'd rather it didn't, just let me know and it won't. Even in cases where sessions are shared publicly, only my voice is recorded. Your voice, your identity, and details that directly link to you, rather than general themes, are never captured in any recording used for distribution.
Refunds & Unused Sessions
What happens if I buy a package but don't use all the sessions?
If you purchase a package and decide not to use the remaining sessions, I offer a pro-rata refund on any unused sessions. So if you buy a 5-session package and use 3, you can claim a refund for the 2 remaining sessions at the per-session rate of the package you purchased.
Alternatively, you can gift the remaining sessions to someone else, a partner, family member, or friend, rather than taking a refund. Just let me know, and I'll arrange the transfer.
Sessions never expire, so there's no rush to use them, but if your circumstances change and you genuinely won't be using what you've paid for, you won't be out of pocket.
About Adam's Training & Approach
Do you only do hypnotherapy?
No, hypnosis is the primary tool I use, but it sits within a much broader clinical framework. I have a degree in psychology and have trained extensively in a range of therapeutic protocols, including Parts Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP) and third-wave behavioural therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
In practice, this means that what happens in a session is shaped by what you actually need, not by a single modality applied regardless of fit. Hypnosis is exceptionally effective as a delivery mechanism for many of these approaches, and the combination tends to produce faster, more durable results than any single method alone. While most clients see me for hypnotherapy, some clients just use the time for a standard talk therapy session.
Which celebrities and members of the Royal Family have you worked with?
I have a strict confidentiality policy and would never divulge the identity or details of any paying client, regardless of who they are. That applies to everyone, including any public figures or members of the Royal Family who may have worked with me. If anything, the higher the profile of the client, the more important that confidentiality becomes. The fact that I won't tell you who I've worked with is precisely why those clients trusted me in the first place.
What I can say is this: in my early years as a therapist, before my practice was fully established, I worked with a number of actors, pop stars, and reality TV personalities on a pro bono basis in exchange for video recordings of sessions or the right to reference our work together in publicity material. Those arrangements were made transparently and with consent. Since then, my client base has grown considerably, and every paying client, without exception, has my complete discretion.
